Rumor: Google wants to buy game studios for its own game streaming service Yeti
Google is in talks to acquire studios that should develop games for its own streaming service Yeti, Kotaku reports. It is unknown who Google is in talks with and what kind of games that should produce.
Google met with developers during the game fair E3 and earlier this year during the Game Developers Conference, to convince them to make their games suitable for the streaming service that Google would like to set up, claims Kotaku. Google would also be interested in acquiring one or more studios. It is unknown which studios are involved and what kind of games the search company has in mind. Google has not commented nor made any announcements yet.
Earlier it came out that Google is working on Yeti, a service to stream games. The American company would also be working on hardware on which consumers can run the streaming service. It is unknown whether Google would also like to run the games locally.
The idea of game streaming services is not new. In recent years, Nvidia, among others, came up with GeForce Now and OnLive has also been on the market for some years. Sony has PlayStation Now and EA and Microsoft are also working on services to stream games.
