‘Samsung releases Q8 TVs with full array local dimming in Europe’
Samsung is reportedly adding the Q8 TVs with full array local dimming to its European QLED range. Until now, the expensive Q9F TVs were the only models from Samsung with this technology available in the EU.
Samsung will offer the relevant line in Europe under the Q8DN name and it will consist of TVs with diagonals of 55″, 65″ and 75″. The TVs with Direct Full Array backlight, such as Samsung’s technology for full array local dimming or fald, have fewer zones than the Q9F models, but the price will also be lower, at least that’s what FlatpanelsHD claims, which more often correctly report about TVs that have yet to hit the market.
Unlike the Q8 TVs already available in Europe, the Q8DN models do not get a Connect Box. However, a twin tuner would be present and the TVs would have four HDMI ports. It is still unclear in which European countries the Q8DN models will be released. Samsung would offer branches in regions the opportunity to decide for themselves. At least in the UK, Germany, Scandinavia and Switzerland the TVs would appear.
Samsung announced its QLED offering for the Benelux in March. The Q9F models were the only TVs with fald at the time. The cheapest version, with a 55″ screen, has a suggested retail price of 3199 euros. For which prices Samsung will offer the Q8DNs is not yet known. In the US, the Q8 TVs with fald were already available.
