Super Mario Party becomes first Mario Party game with online multiplayer mode

Super Mario Party, the latest game in the franchise to be released on October 5, is getting a multiplayer mode. The Online Mario-thon contains 5 varying mini-games that players can play against friends or strangers.

It is the first time that there is an online multiplayer mode in a Mario Party title. Nintendo announced the feature during one of its livestreams as part of the E3 games show in Los Angeles. Nintendo will not reveal many details, but it is clear that the online mode will be decorated with leaderboards, rankings and also rewards, although nothing else is said about the latter.

The online mode is expected to be part of Nintendo’s paid online feature set, which is still under development. The service will cost 19.99 euros per year. Super Mario Party will be the first Mario Party title for the Switch and will be released on October 5 this year.
