According to the Windows Central website, it seems that Microsoft’s Xbox One console will eventually receive support for three digital voice assistants, namely Cortana, Assistant and Alexa. Cortana has been available for some time, although until now a headset is required.

Windows Central reports that it has received an image from a reliable source of an option that Microsoft will add in the Xbox One settings in due course. A menu will be added in an upcoming update, according to the source, where the user can choose to enable Cortana, Alexa or Google Assistant. The user must then install the necessary files for each individual voice assistant.

Microsoft has not yet confirmed the arrival of this possible new functionality for the Xbox One and it is also unclear when the option will be available. In addition, it is unclear exactly how much users can do with the support for the voice assistants, but it could for example involve giving voice commands with which a movie can be started or paused.

After Microsoft stopped production of the Kinect in 2017, there was no very user-friendly way to control the console with voice commands on the console. Cortana was already available, but users must use a headset to control their Xbox One via voice commands.
