Asus has announced its H370 Mining Master motherboard, which can accept 21 video cards. There is only one PCI-e slot, the rest of the GPUs must be installed via PCI-e-to-USB adapters.

Asus’ new motherboard for crypto mining is based on Intel’s H370 chipset and twenty PCI-e lanes are output as an x1 slot via a USB connector. A video card can be connected by plugging in a USB-to-Pci-e riser. In addition to the twenty USB ports for video cards, there is also one regular PCI-e 3.0 x16 slot. Although there is room for 21 video cards, a maximum of 20 can be used at the same time. The H370 chipset also offers up to 20 pci-e lanes.

By using USB connectors, space is saved and it is easier to hide the many connections for video cards. Asus previously made a B250 Mining Expert motherboard, with 19 physical PCI-e slots.

Asus reports that it has made a working demo setup with its new Mining Master motherboard featuring twelve Radeon RX 470 graphics cards and eight mining cards based on the Nvidia P104 GPU. The video cards are mounted in a rack built by Cooler Master and Asus will demonstrate this setup at the Computex trade show in Taiwan in early June.

The bios has been adjusted and Asus has added GPU State Detection, an overview that indicates whether the GPUs are working properly. In other respects, the motherboard with lga1151 socket is simple. There are two DDR4 slots for up to 32GB of RAM and there are two SATA connections for storage. A screen can be connected via DVI or HDMI.

Asus has not yet disclosed what the H370 Mining Master motherboard will cost and when it will hit the market.
