Bethesda hints at new Fallout game
Bethesda has posted a teaser on social media pointing to upcoming news in the Fallout series. It’s not clear yet if a completely new game is on the way; there are also rumors of the arrival of a Fallout 3 remaster.
The publisher shows on Twitter and on Facebook a ‘Please Stand By’ video, in signature Fallout style. Bethesda does not provide any substantive information yet, but just before the announcement of Fallout 4 in 2015, a similar teaser was shown.
The teaser may indicate that an all-new Fallout game is on the way, but there are also indications that it is a remaster of a previously released game. Fallout 3 seems a suitable candidate for this, that game was released in October 2008 and is therefore almost ten years old.
Bethesda has a live stream on Twitch, where at first glance nothing seems to be happening. However, attentive viewers noticed that occasionally something comes into view, for example a woman with balloons walks through the image and a man with a Pip-Boy that resembles the model from Fallout 3.
At least it doesn’t seem to be a remaster of Fallout: New Vegas. After Bethesda put the teaser online, the studio behind that game posted a tweet which seems to make it clear that Obsidian has nothing to do with the announcement. Bethesda is likely to announce more during its press conference at E3 on June 10.
