Samsung launches new Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab S4
Samsung launches the Galaxy Tab S4, the long-awaited successor to the Tab S3. Samsung calls it a 2-in-1 Android tablet, designed with more ease of use, which should benefit your productivity, provided you use it of course really actively. The new design is clearly tighter than its popular Android predecessor.
Samsung DeX and S Pen
The new Galaxy Tab S4 is Samsung’s first tablet equipped with DeX, so it can be used as a virtually full PC in a business environment. In practice this means that you can multitask (among others with Microsoft Office apps), enlarge and shrink windows, drag content from one app to another and use keyboard shortcuts and commands. If you want to use it for business, it is best to buy the separate Book Cover Keyboard. Also in that combination it remains lightweight to take with you on a journey.
The Galaxy Tab S4 is just like its predecessor Samsung S Pen, addictive once you’re used to it and besides some more ease of use is also fun for the creative people who want to draw and write on their tablet. You can then send those handwritten texts with two clicks via Samsung Live Message.
Battery and display
The Tab S4 tablet is compatible with HDMI adapters, so the tablet can also be used as a second screen. By default, it is equipped with Knox, Samsung’s integrated security system KNOX. The 7.300 mAh battery is good for up to 16 hours of video watching. The tablet has a 10.5 inch Super Amoled display with a screen ratio of 16:10 and a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (287 PPI). If you are an avid Netflix viewer (or other provider), this is perhaps the most important reason to switch to a new S4, because the image quality is much better than with the previous model due to the higher resolution. The tablet has four speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound (AKG).
The S4 has standard 4GB of memory and a microSD of 64 Gb, which is expanding to 400 Gb. The weight is only 482 grams and that includes Android 8.1.
Connectivity
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is equipped with Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and Wifi 802.11. With Samsung Flow you can work on different devices and with the SmartThings app you can control your connected gear at home.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will be available in a Wi-Fi and an LTE version from August 24 for a suggested retail price starting at 699 euros. From 1 August you can order the Galaxy Tab S4 online and you receive a Book Cover Keyboard for free at 149 euros.
