HTC U12+ smartphone image and specs come out
The image and specifications of the HTC U12+ have come online. Telecom journalist Evan Blass, aka @EvLeaks, has released a render and photos with full specs. The phone has, among other things, a new version of the pinch function Edge Sense.
Edge Sense 2 allows users, among other things, to double-tap the side of the phone to shrink the screen for one-handed use, according to the spec sheet that Blass tweeted. Blass has an almost flawless track record of publishing information about unannounced phones.
It is also possible with Edge Sense 2 to hold the phone for the Smart Dim and Smart Rotate functions, although it is unclear what they do. The U12+ has a dual camera on the back. The primary camera has a resolution of twelve megapixels, a sensor with 1.4 micron pixels and a lens with an aperture of f/1.75. The secondary 16MP camera has a telephoto lens with an f/2.6 aperture that brings objects 1.85x closer. There is also a dual camera on the front.
The phone has a 6″ LCD with a resolution of 2880×1440 pixels and unlike many other Android smartphones from recent months, it does not have a notch in the display. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back of the case. .5mm jack is missing, audio is via USB-C. That connection, with support for USB 3.1, is at the bottom.
About 80 percent of the front is screen. The phone measures 156x74mm and is 8.7mm thick. The bezels are 20.2×5.7mm thick, which means that the edges on the side are thinner than those of many competitors. The HTC smartphone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845-soc with a memory size of 6GB. The storage has a capacity of 64GB or 128GB, depending on the variant. HTC has an event scheduled for next Wednesday, May 23. Then it will probably announce the smartphone. Blass doesn’t mention when the phone should come out or how much it should cost.
