Qualcomm coming this fall with new Snapdragon soc for smartwatches
Qualcomm says it will release a new Snapdragon smartwatch soc in the fall. Simultaneously, manufacturers would also release watches with the soc. According to the chipmaker, the new soc significantly improves Wear OS watches.

Qualcomm does not provide details about the new soc yet, but in an interview with Wareable, CEO Pankaj Kedia indicates that new hardware will appear in the fall. Along with the new chip, there will also be a flagship device and various ‘partners’ will announce their own watches with Wear OS and the new chip.
It is not clear who makes the ‘flagship’. The timing of the announcement in the fall could coincide with a launch from Google. The search giant announced its Pixel devices around October in recent years. It is not clear whether Google itself will come up with its own Wear OS watch.
Current smartwatches with Google’s Wear OS are now based on the Snapdragon Wear 2100-soc, which Qualcomm announced more than two years ago. Because no new chips for Wear OS watches have been released since then, there have been no major developments in areas such as battery life and performance.
According to rumors, LG will soon come with a new smartwatch that again contains the old Snapdragon Wear 2100-soc.
