HTC unveils successor U11 smartphone probably on May 23
HTC will probably present the successor to its U11 smartphone on May 23. The manufacturer has put a teaser online with the internal components of an upcoming smartphone. Furthermore, the Taiwanese manufacturer says nothing.
HTC mentions to the photos: “Coming soon, a phone that is more than the sum of its specs.” In addition, the photo shows, among other things, four cameras, of which two modules seem large enough for a back of the phone. This would make the upcoming smartphone the first high-end HTC phone with a dual camera since the One M8 from 2014. Photos of the possible U12+ that surfaced last week show a dual camera.
It is the first time that HTC openly talks about a successor to the U11 and U11 + smartphones released last year. Earlier rumors spoke of a smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845-soc, a 6-inch screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio and storage up to 256GB.
HTC is now very different from a year ago, when the U11 came out. Google bought half of its R&D workforce in a deal worth around $1 billion. HTC also recently closed its office in the Benelux.
