Nvidia stops Game Ready drivers for Fermi GPUs and 32-bit software
Nvidia will stop supporting Fermi GPUs and the 32-bit versions of operating systems from April. The move means that new Game Ready drivers for the Fermi cards and 32-bit OSes will no longer be released.
The decision applies to Linux, FreeBSD, Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 and Windows 10. Until January 2019, Nvidia will continue to release critical updates for the 32-bit operating systems. However, driver updates that fix performance, bugs and add new features will no longer be available for 32bit from April.
The same goes for systems with Fermi GPUs. The GTX 500 and 400 series, such as the GeForce GTX 590 and 580, include Fermi GPUs, as well as the laptop versions of these cards. Nvidia has published a complete list of cards equipped with the Fermi chips.
To prepare owners of 32-bit software and Fermi cards for the decision, Nvidia already announced the move in December last year.
