Xbox One version PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds gets desert map next month
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on Xbox One is slightly behind the original PC version in terms of development. However, next month, in May, the Xbox One version will get a big addition of content in the form of the desert map Miramar.
PlayerUnknown, aka Brendan Greene, made the news known during a panel at PAX East, a gaming fair. Further details on the release of the new map should follow later. Miramar is the same size as the original island of Erangel but contains more large, open areas and the cities are also significantly larger and more varied. Also, the range of weapons and vehicles on this map is different.
On the PC side, developer PUBG Corp. is working. meanwhile, another new map codenamed Savage, which measures four by four kilometers instead of the eight by eight of the other two maps. That should ensure matches with a higher tempo. Work is also underway on War Mode, a team deathmatch-like game mode where the death of the player does not mean the end of the game. He can then jump out of a plane again above the reduced playing field. The first team to reach the required amount of points wins. When this new folder and mode will come to the PC release version is unknown. It is expected that they will eventually come to the Xbox One version.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a popular so-called battle royale shooter. One hundred players board a plane that flies over a desert island. Players choose when to jump out and where to land. Once down, they must gather weapons and equipment, stay within the shrinking playing field and make sure they become the last man standing. The game can be played in solo mode or in teams of up to four people.
