Snapchat company reportedly lays off 100 people
Snap, the American company behind Snapchat, has reportedly fired 100 people, reports financial news agency Bloomberg. The round of layoffs will follow within a month after the company fired 120 technicians.
This time around, the layoffs are mostly at Snap’s advertising arm, Bloomberg said. It would be the last round of layoffs for the time being at the company, which is mainly known for chat app Snapchat. Snap posted disappointing financial results in the past year.
Snap would not confirm how many people will have to leave, but said in a statement to the news agency that it has fired people. “Late last year, we asked executives across Snap to take a close look at their teams to make sure they have the right manpower and organization to support their mission. Closer integration and collaboration between teams is an important part of our company to grow for a long time,” says a spokesperson.
The round of layoffs at the advertising division follows shortly after that at the technicians department, where 120 people reportedly had to leave. Snap would have hired a lot of people in recent years to grow as quickly as possible.
