Rumor: Apple to announce cheap iPad focused on education next week
Apple will announce a new version of its cheapest iPad at an event targeting the educational market next week, Bloomberg claims citing sources. The company is also reportedly coming with new software for schools.
Bloomberg does not disclose specifications of the iPad. The article was written by Mark Gurman, who is known to have good resources within Apple. In addition to a new version of the cheapest iPad aimed at education, Apple will announce new educational software during an event in Chicago, he says.
Apple last week sent out invitations to the event, titled “Let’s take a field trip,” which takes place on Tuesday, March 27 at Lane Tech College Prep High School in Chicago. The invitation states that the event will “exchange new creative ideas for teachers and students.” It’s Apple’s first education-focused event since 2012, when it announced digital textbooks and an e-book creation tool. There have been rumors about the arrival of new iPads for some time now.
