A frequently discussed piece of software in the Photo & Video Workflow subforum is PTGui. This program focuses on creating and adjusting composite images. This can be a vertical or horizontal panorama, but also an enormous resolution of one large image, which is composed of countless individual shots. Using a stack of photos as input, the program can figure out how to put them side by side on both macOS and Windows computers. For the computation-intensive part, the GPU can also be used via OpenCL to be ready faster. It features various options, where PTGui Pro also makes it possible to combine HDR photos, mask moving objects and adjust the viewing point, among other things. Version 11.27 has been released and since version 11.25 the following changes and improvements have been made:

Changes in version 11.27:

  • Improved visibility of the magnifying glass (showing the position of the Detail Viewer) in the Panorama Editor window, on low resolution screens.
  • Fixed: ‘assertion failed’ errors when working with greyscale (single channel) images, for example from thermal cameras.
  • Fixed: PTGui web viewer (Publish to Website) in Firefox 75: the panorama would be visible only while rotating. When stationary, the image disappeared. All newly created web pages from Publish to Website will use the new version of the viewer. Existing published panoramas can be updated by replacing PTGuiViewer.js with the new version: download the latest PTGuiViewer.js here.

Changes in version 11.26:

  • Fixed: PTGui could crash on certain Ricoh Theta Z1 images, or when scanning a folder containing such images
