Spotify is preinstalled on Galaxy S10 devices

Spotify has announced that it has expanded a previous agreement with Samsung that will see the music app pre-installed on all Galaxy S10 versions, the Galaxy Fold and select Galaxy A-series devices.

Spotify reports that its app will be pre-installed on the Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, S10 5g, Galaxy Fold and select Galaxy A devices. This may differ per region, but it is in any case about ‘millions of new Samsung smartphones’ that are standard equipped with the Spotify app. This will happen from Friday.

In addition, there is a promotion whereby new American Spotify users with Samsung devices are eligible to use Spotify Premium for free for six months. However, this only applies to the US and not to other parts of the world.

The pre-installation of Spotify on new Samsung phones is the result of the extension of the agreement concluded in August between Samsung and Spotify. As a result, Spotify became available on Samsung smart TVs, among others, and was integrated even more deeply into Bixby. The latter means that if a user asks the voice assistant for music, Bixby will search Spotify by default.
