Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are coming to Nintendo Switch at the end of 2019

Nintendo has unveiled Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield for the Nintendo Switch. It is a new RPG in the main series, which will be released at the end of 2019. The game is set in the new Galar region and features new Pokémon.

At the announcement in a Nintendo Direct, the console builder together with developer Game Freak showed the first images of the new Pokémon RPG. A trailer is now also online and a website with information has been published.

According to Game Freak, the new RPG will be a game that will appeal to both new and experienced players. The region where the game takes place is called Galar and contains different areas such as cities, plains and mountains. In the region, humans and Pokémon work together to develop the industry.

Developer Game Freak says to try new things in the RPG for the Switch, but also to continue to cherish what makes the Pokémon games special. The game includes new Pokémon, the eighth generation. The three starters were shown at the unveiling of the game: Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble.

Nintendo and Game Freak have not yet announced a release date for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, but they do say that the game will be released at the end of this year. In 2017 it was already announced during E3 that Game Freak is working on a new full-fledged Pokémon game.
