Intel makes acquisition for expertise separate GPUs
Intel has acquired part of Ineda Systems. The Hyderabad-based company is developing technology for autonomous driving, but the acquisition would mainly focus on the GPU-related skills of about a hundred technicians.
Dasaradha Gude, the founder of Ineda Systems, confirmed the acquisition to the Times of India, but declined to provide further details. An Intel spokesperson told the paper that his company has acquired the engineering resources of Ineda Systems, which will give Intel an “experienced SOC team to help build a standalone GPU business.”
The Times of India reports that sources have indicated that about 100 technicians with GPU-related skills are involved. Intel already has several hundred employees in Hyderabad who mainly develop software.
Founded about eight years ago by Dasaradha Gude, Ineda Systems operates in the autonomous driving, artificial intelligence and IoT industries. Before founding this company, he was a director at AMD in India. A few years ago, the company raised tens of millions of dollars from Samsung and Qualcomm, among others, after developing relatively economical chips for wearables. Later, the company focused more on autonomous technology.
