Thrustmaster has announced the first generation of its hybrid racing wheel, the T248. The handlebar combines belt and gear mechanisms with three force feedback settings and a display. The wheel is compatible with PC, PS4 and PS5.

The T248 is the first racing wheel Thrustmaster has developed in this price range with what it calls a ‘hybrid drivetrain’. In this way, the steering wheel can be adjusted for all kinds of racing games and tracks. In addition to the usual force feedback, the handlebar has a resistance system driven by a belt and gears. The force feedback can therefore be dynamically set to one of three settings: linear force feedback, exactly as the game transmits the settings, enhanced force feedback with better cornering grip, and boosted forced feedback, which allows users to feel all the effects on a track.

On the steering wheel is a display that can show various things, such as the type of force feedback, the gear ratio, the speed, the number of rounds to go, the player position and the best time. A total of twenty different displays can be set.

The included T3PM pedals work with Hall effect sensors and a spring that gives four different settings for stronger or less strong back pressure. According to the manufacturer, the paddle shifters on the steering wheel have a maximum response time of 30ms. The steering wheel is connected via USB 2.0 and has been specially developed for the PS5 and PS4, but is also compatible with the PC. The steering wheel and pedal set is for sale from October 21 for 350 euros.
