Under the name DataTraveler Max, Kingston is releasing a series of USB-C sticks with a read speed of up to 1000MB/s and a write speed of 900MB/s. There are variants with capacities of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB.

The Kingston DataTraveler Max flash drives work with USB 3.2 Gen2 and only have a USB Type-C connection. To take full advantage of the speed, a computer or laptop with a USB 3.2 Gen2 connection is also required. This makes a throughput of up to 10 Gbit/s achievable.

The 12g USB sticks are 82mm long, 22mm wide and 9mm high. They feature a sliding cap, LED indicator and a loop to use as a key ring. With the claimed speeds, Kingston’s new USB sticks are the fastest on the market. The competition is stuck at a maximum of 440MB/s.

The manufacturer does not provide details about the flash memory or controller used. The speeds mentioned apply to all three versions. The versions of 256GB, 512GB and 1TB have suggested retail prices of 108, 156 and 265 euros respectively. The USB sticks have a five-year warranty.
