Images show possible successor to HTC U11 smartphone
The usually reliable telecom journalist Evan Blass, also known by his Twitter name EvLeaks, has published some photos that may show the HTC U12. The smartphone shown is probably the successor of the HTC U11.
The smartphone, which was used to test 5G at a business event in Taiwan, carries the codename ‘Imagine’ and may be the successor to the HTC U11. The top bezel and part of the back were taped off, but the device appears to have an 18:9 aspect ratio screen with fairly thin bezels on the side. No official specifications have been disclosed.
HTC has said that the device is capable of download speeds of up to 809 Mbit/s, so there may be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 in the phone. The modem of this soc, an X20, enables download speeds of up to 1.2 Gbit/s thanks to the possibility of carrier aggregation on 5x20MHz.
The HTC U11 was released in May 2017 and the HTC U11+ became available in November. Unlike the U11, the U11+ had an extended 18:9 screen. The new phone is unlikely to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona later this month.
