Ice hockey game NHL 22 will be released on October 15 and will run on Frostbite engine
Electronic Arts has announced that NHL 22 will be released on October 15. NHL 22 is the first game in the ice hockey series to run on the Frostbite engine. The game will be released for both the previous and current generation of consoles.
EA announced in an announcement that NHL is making the jump to the next generation of consoles. The game will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game, like the previous parts, will not be released for PC, unlike other EA Sports games such as FIFA and Madden NFL.
For the jump to the current generation of consoles, NHL 22 now runs on EA’s Frostbite engine. The NHL games of the past few years were some of the publisher’s few sports games still running in the Ignite engine. According to EA producer Clement Kwong, “the Frostbite engine allows for more realism to be added to the game, which will be noticeable during gameplay.”
In addition to the new engine, the game also gets a new gameplay element. Some star players have been awarded a Superstar X-Factor. The best players in the game can therefore do a little more than the rest, such as special actions to keep a puck out of the goal.
