Activision Releases Call of Duty: Vanguard on November 5
Call of Duty: Vanguard releases on November 5 for Windows, current and previous generation PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The game takes place in locations worldwide, during World War II.
The Call of Duty series returns to the historic battlefield with Vanguard, while competitor Battlefield moves it to the future again this year with Battlefield 2042. In 2017, the last World War II-themed Call of Duty game came out: Call of Duty: WWII. Vanguard is in many ways a sequel to that game.
Vanguard’s single player story is set in locations around the world. That in contrast to previous CoD games about World War II, which were mainly about Europe. The story revolves around four protagonists. These are fictional characters based on real people.
The game gets a new persistent damage system and that means that a lot can be broken. For example, players can smash wooden walls and create new passages in multiplayer games. The game will have 20 multiplayer maps at launch, of which 16 are designed for 6vs6 battles and four for 2vs2 games. The maximum number of players in multiplayer is not yet known.
Call of Duty: Vanguard was created by Sledgehammer Games, Treyarch and Raven Studio. Treyarch is making a Zombies part and that will be a prequel to the Zombies story from Black Ops Cold War. Raven is working on Vanguard content for Warzone. Activision will release the game for Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series X and S. The game will be released on November 5. That’s a few weeks after the release of Battlefield 2042 on October 22.
