Samsung presents Galaxy S9 on February 25 and emphasizes camera

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S9 will be announced on February 25. The invitation says ‘The camera’ and ‘Reimagined’. Presumably, the device will have a variable aperture lens and a slow-motion function up to 480fps in 1080p resolution.

The unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S9 can be followed via a live stream on the Unpacked website of the manufacturer on February 25 at 6:00 PM. Samsung presents the device on the eve of the telecom fair Mobile World Congress, which starts on February 26.

This means that the S9 is announced earlier in the year than the predecessor, which Samsung presented at its own event at the end of March last year. However, the Galaxy S7 was also presented in February just before the Mobile World Congress. Telecom journalist Evan Blass previously announced via his Twitter account @evleaks that the Galaxy S9 will probably be on sale from March 16. Customers will be able to order the device from March 1.

Samsung does not provide any details about the camera in the teaser itself, but it was previously revealed that the camera will probably get a lens with a variable aperture, by means of a physical shutter. The Galaxy S9 will probably also have a super-slow motion function for movies. The exact frame rate is not yet known, but Samsung recently published details about camera sensors and shows an image on that page showing a phone filming at 480fps in 1080p resolution. Current top models shoot 1080p movies with up to 240fps.

The design of the Galaxy S9 and S9 + would be almost identical to that of the S8 and S8 + according to previous reports. The smartphones will probably get stereo speakers and keep the 3.5mm jack. The fingerprint scanner is probably right under the camera, where it is still next to the camera with the Galaxy S8.
