ProtonMail comes with Android version of VPN service
ProtonMail has released an Android version of its free VPN service. The company, known for its secure mail service, says that unlike many providers of free VPN services, it will not sell users’ data.
Instead, ProtonMail hopes it can convince users to become paying customers by offering more and faster connections with subscriptions, among other things. The VPN service works with the IKEv2 protocol, ProtonMail reports.
The VPN service works with the free version on one device and with slower servers. The faster servers and availability on two devices costs 48 euros per year as a Basic subscription. The subscription for 96 euros, Plus, adds the ability to communicate over the Tor network and use the VPN on five devices.
The subscription of 288 euros per year has the extra that the paid version of the ProtonMail mail service is included. ProtonVPN can be found in the Play Store as a free download. An account is required for use. If you choose the free version, you do not have to enter payment details. The ProtonVPN service has been available on desktop since last year.
