Raspberry Pi Zero W variant adds header to development board
The Raspberry Pi Foundation has announced a variant of the Raspberry Pi W, with the only addition being a pre-installed header. The model therefore bears the designation WH and must be suitable for various applications.
According to the foundation, the slightly modified board is suitable for people who cannot or do not want to solder, but who do want to use the gpio headers. This is the case, for example, if someone first wants to try out a prototype of a project and does not want to solder directly on the board itself before a final design is made.
The same applies to a temporary application of the sign. The addition also makes the Raspberry Pi WH suitable for use with the Gpio Expander tool, which allows the device’s gpio pins to be accessed through software running on a Debian Stretch system.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation introduced the W variant of its small Zero development board early last year. This variant added Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity to the Zero version introduced in 2015.
