Samyang introduces bright 14mm autofocus lens for Canon’s EF mount
Samyang has unveiled a new lens for Canon’s full-frame cameras. The Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 EF is the first lens with autofocus released by South Korean Samyang for the Canon EF mount. The prime will be on the market in February for 700 euros.
The autofocus system can be turned on or off with a button on the lens. The lens has no built-in optical stabilization and the aperture can only be set electronically via the camera. The focal length of 14mm leads to an angle of view of 116.6 degrees.
The optical construction consists of fifteen lens elements in ten groups. Samyang uses two aspherical elements and an Extra-low Dispersion element. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 20cm, measured from the sensor plane, and the diaphragm consists of seven blades.
A filter cannot be applied to the lens. The prime weighs 485 grams and is weather resistant. The 14mm lens is intended for Canon’s full-frame cameras, such as the EOS 5D Mark IV.
