Nvidia stops supporting drivers for 32-bit operating systems
The upcoming version 390 of Nvidia’s graphics driver will be the last to support 32-bit operating systems. After that, new GeForce Game Ready Drivers only support 64-bit operating systems, regardless of the GPU used.
Nvidia has announced the end of support for 32bit on its support page. The step affects Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 10, Linux, and FreeBSD. Until January 2019, Nvidia will continue to release security updates for critical vulnerabilities, but optimizations and new functionalities will no longer come to 32-bit operating systems after driver version 390.
Until now, GeForce Game Ready Drivers supported both 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows, Linux and FreeBSD. Steam’s statistics page shows that about 2 percent of players on the platform still have a 32-bit OS. As of Ubuntu 17.10, Canonical no longer makes 32-bit versions available. MacOS switched completely to 64 bit some time ago.
