Vivo hints at new sub-brand iQOO
Chinese smartphone developer Vivo has posted a cryptic, futuristic image of a city on Weibo that reads “Hello, this is iQOO.” According to Mysmartprice, it could be a new sub-brand.
Whether and when the new brand will release mobile phones is currently unclear, but it seems that it will become a sub-brand of Vivo. For example, Mysmartprice writes that an iqoo.com domain name has been registered by someone from the Chinese smartphone developer. AndroidAuthority says there was a brief history of Vivo on that site before. At the time of writing, iqoo.com is unavailable.
According to the Weibo report, Vivo will raffle a new iQOO smartphone on Wednesday and writes: “watch out for the new smartphone from iQOO”. More details about the new brand are expected to become available on Wednesday.
It would not be the first time that a Chinese manufacturer has come up with a sub-brand, previously Huawei came with Honor, Oppo with Realme and Xiaomi with Poco.
