Partnership to help US cyber infrastructures more secure
The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency is launching a new partnership to help protect critical cyber infrastructures in the US from outside attacks. AWS, Microsoft and Google Cloud, among others, are participating.
The statement from CISA states that the partnership, which has been given the name Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative, must play a leading role in the development of cyber defense plans. According to CISA, this will enable coordinated implementation, better detect risks and limit the impact of cyber attacks. Insights are also shared among the members via the Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative, so that members are more quickly informed where there are any problems.
“Participating partners are working together to protect national critical cyber infrastructures from attacks and to devise new solutions to these problems,” said Jen Easterly, director of CISA. “Our initial focus will be on fighting ransomware and coordinating incidents at cloud service providers.”
Amazon Web Services, AT&T, Crowdstrike, FireEye Mandiant, Google Cloud, Lumen, Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks and Verizon, among others, have already signed up. Several US government organizations are also participating, including the US Departments of Defense and Justice, the NSA, the FBI and the US Cyber Command team.
