Developer: Xposed for Android Oreo is 95 percent ready
Xposed for Android 8.x is 95 percent ready. So says developer Rovo89. The maker of Xposed hopes to be able to test on the new Android version soon to ensure a release of the framework. It is not yet clear when that should happen.
The basic functionality works in an emulator, but the port is not ready yet, says Rovo89 on XDA-Developers. In recent years, the developer has released a new version of its Xposed framework for new Android versions. The framework currently supports Android 5.0 to 7.1. The port to Oreo has been delayed due to a release that squashes many bugs. That version, v89, came out on Sunday.
Xposed is a plugin framework for modules that enables advanced tweaks on Android phones. For example, there are modules to set the language per application, to choose themes in WhatsApp and to hide the fact that a user has root access, so that apps that refuse to function with root can still be run. There is a repository with a total of 1147 mods available.
