Android version of Chrome also gets support for dark mode
Google has added a dark mode in the latest version of Chrome for Android. Version 73 of the mobile browser is currently only available in the beta channel, and will therefore only come to all Android users in some time.
The website 9To5Google discovered that Google is experimenting with dark mode in Chrome for Android. It turns out that it is possible to turn on the dark mode in Chrome by setting the so-called Night mode to ‘always on’ in the developer settings on Android Pie. In addition, 9To5Google notes that the functionality is clearly still under development, because not all text is equally legible.
It’s no surprise that a dark mode is coming to Chrome for Android. Google is already working on a similar functionality in Chrome for Windows and Mac. A screen with lots of black elements helps when browsing in low light at night, and also offers battery savings on smartphones with an OLED screen.
