Payment app will be linked to savings promotions from stores
A payment app called OK can link loyalty cards from, for example, supermarkets for savings and discounts. The company behind the app claims to work with 100 ‘big parties’.
Users can link multiple bank accounts, loyalty cards and accounts to the OK app. When paying in a store, they can choose their bank account, scan a barcode and give an ‘ok’ for the transaction. The purchase receipt is automatically saved and the savings and discounts are immediately settled, that is the intention.
You can pay online by choosing ‘OK payment’ at checkout, after which the app opens on the smartphone. Payment via PC or tablet is done via a QR code that the smartphone has to scan. According to the company behind OK, users no longer have to create accounts at online stores.
The functionality is highly dependent on the cooperation of retail chains and other parties, partly because cash registers must receive a software update for OR support. According to OK, there are collaborations with a hundred ‘big parties’, but the company does not disclose which ones. The app appears to have been available in Google’s Play Store and Apple’s app store for some time, although OK speaks of a phased introduction in 2018.
