Renders show new iPad Mini with USB-C connection
Renowned leaker Jon Prosser has shared renders showing the possible design of the next-generation iPad Mini. The tablet would include a USB-C connection and smaller screen edges. The home button disappears, just like with the iPad Pro and new iPad Air.
Prosser shows the renders on his FrontPageTech website. The leaker claims the renders are based on CAD files, schematics and real photos of the upcoming tablet. These were then recreated in the renders, in order to protect Prosser’s resources. The iPad Mini 6 appears to be based on the iPad Air. The Mini variant seems to have a ‘flat’ design, just like the current iPad Air, iPad Pro and iPhone 12.
This gives the tablet smaller screen edges, so that there is no longer room for a home button. The Touch ID sensor is therefore processed in the on/off button, the leaker states. Prosser also claims that the iPad Mini 6 has an A14 soc, which is also used in the iPad Air and iPhone 12 devices.
Furthermore, according to Prosser, the tablet will receive 5G connectivity and support for a new, smaller Apple Pencil. The leaker claims that the device will have dimensions of 206.3×137.8mm. The tablet would be 6.1mm thick. However, the screen diagonal is still unknown. Furthermore, the tablet gets a single camera and a ‘Smart Connector’ for accessories on the back. The device should be released by the end of this year.
