Cryorig’s monitor stand housing to hit the market in the first half of 2018
Despite not reaching the Kickstarter goals, the Taku monitor stand housing from Cryorig is still on the market. People who promised the money for the housing on the website can be the first to receive the cabinet in December. Europeans can probably buy the Taku in the first half of 2018.
Cryorig had set a target of $100,000 after which the case would go into production. In the end, only about half of that was committed by users. Despite this, Cryorig now says the Taku “has garnered enough backers, feedback and popularity to warrant a product release.” That release takes place in collaboration with Lian Li.
The central idea of the Taku is that the cabinet is sturdy enough to place a monitor on top, and that the legs are long enough and the footprint is large enough to accommodate a full-size 104-key keyboard underneath. This saves space on the desk.
The enclosure has space for a mini-itx motherboard, an sfx or sfx-l power supply, a 3.5″ drive and two 2.5″ drives. Video cards can be up to 280 millimeters long and fit into the housing using a riser card. Dualslot cards also fit. According to Cryorig, it is therefore possible to build a high-end PC in the closet. On the front are two USB 3.0 ports and 3.5mm audio ports. An upgrade kit with USB type-c port for the front should also be released later. Finally, a 92mm fan is also included. The inside of the housing consists of a tray that can be extended for easy installation of parts.
The case will be launched first in the US, Japan and Taiwan. That will start in December, but Kickstarter campaign backers will have priority and will be guaranteed delivery before the end of December. They also get a Cryorig C7 processor cooler. It is likely that it will be Europe’s turn in the first half of 2018. Then Cryorig and Lian Li will serve ‘other markets’. In the US, the Taku costs $299. A price in euros is not yet known.
