The American Control4 takes over the Swiss company NEEO. That company is known for its smarthome remote control that it developed through crowdfunding. Control4 wants to use NEEO’s expertise in its own smart home products.

As a result of the acquisition, the sale of the NEEO Remote, which was offered by the makers via their own website, will stop. In a statement, the Swiss manufacturer says that from now on, updates for the remote control will appear. To reinforce that, a firmware update was also released on Tuesday.

NEEO has already worked with Control4 on a product intended for the professional market. This collaboration eventually resulted in a takeover. Control4 is a provider of smarthome solutions for homes and businesses. The American company wants to integrate NEEO’s knowledge and technology into its own products.

In 2015, the NEEO appeared on Kickstarter as a smart remote. More than six thousand people supported the project with a total of more than 1.5 million dollars. The remote control has a high-resolution screen and works together with a box that can connect to all kinds of smart home equipment.
