Microsoft makes it possible to give Xbox games as gifts
Microsoft is coming with new features for the Xbox, including the ability to gift certain Xbox games to someone else. A software update will also be released that makes it possible to save Xbox settings in the cloud.
The updates are available to Xbox owners who participate in Microsoft’s Insider program. This makes it possible to get early version of Microsoft software, and in this case it is still an alpha build of the new Xbox software. According to the changelog, gifting is only possible for certain games, but no further description was given. It is also possible to give dlc as a gift, or Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass.
Game Gifting is enabled in the Xbox store for users running the alpha software. There is also a software update that introduces several innovations. This makes it possible to save the Xbox settings in the cloud, which should make it easier to migrate to a new Xbox. The notifications will also be adjusted. According to Microsoft, the updates will be made available to Insiders in the coming weeks.
Earlier, Microsoft had already announced that it would be possible to give games as gifts. In July, Mike Ybarra, vice president of the Xbox division at Microsoft, stated that this feature would be coming soon. However, as it is now only available to Xbox users running the alpha software, it will be some time before everyone will be able to gift games.
