LG has delivered slightly more smartphones in recent months than in the same period a year ago. This is evident from the manufacturer’s quarterly figures. According to LG, this is due to stable sales of the top model G6, which seems to be doing better than its predecessor, the G5.

LG shipped a total of 13.7 million smartphones this summer, 1 percent more than the same period a year ago. It went particularly well in South Korea, where LG delivered 44 percent more phones than in the second quarter.

The fact that the G6 now shows ‘steady sales’ differs from the previous quarterly figures, when the manufacturer just said that more expensive models were doing poorly. The device has fallen sharply in price in recent months and it seems that the demand for the smartphone has increased as a result. The mobile division is making a loss, which, according to the South Korean group, is partly due to increased prices for components such as memory.

The TV branch is doing better. LG does not disclose the number of copies delivered, but revenues from the TV branch increased by more than ten percent because models with OLED screens and 4k support did well. In addition, that division makes a margin of almost ten percent, a record for the TV division of LG.

LG had a total turnover of approximately 11.5 billion euros, an increase of fifteen percent compared to a year ago. Operating income amounted to approximately 390 million euros, an increase of more than eighty percent.
