Telenet customers are paying more and more for a subscription
Customers pay Telenet for a subscription an average of 2.70 euros per month more than a year ago. This is evident from the cable company’s quarterly figures. The number of customers taking out a subscription with Telenet rose slightly.
Last year around this time, customers paid an average of 53.50 euros per month and that has now risen to 56.20 euros, according to the quarterly figures. It is unknown whether this is because more customers have purchased a more expensive package or because of price increases. In February, Telenet implemented a slight price increase.
The number of TV customers has increased in the past year, by about 18,000. Initially, the number of customers for the cable company’s TV services fell, but the number rose sharply in the summer due to the acquisition of SFR. There are now just over two million households with Telenet TV.
In total, Telenet has 2.2 million customers; that’s a little over a year ago. There are a total of 2.9 million mobile customers, compared to three million a year ago. This decrease is mainly due to a decline in the number of prepaid customers. That number dropped from 942,000 to 623,000. In contrast, 180,000 subscribers were added. Telenet’s turnover was 4 percent higher at 646 million euros, while gross profit or EBITDA almost halved to 29.5 million euros.
