Canon introduces PowerShot G1 X Mark III with aps-c sensor
Canon has announced the PowerShot G1 X Mark III. The manufacturer has placed the camera in a smaller housing than its predecessor, the Mark II, and equipped it with an aps-c image sensor.
It is the first PowerShot camera to equip Canon with an aps-c image sensor. The Mark II has a 1.5″ sensor. The G1 X Mark III measures 115×77.9×51.4mm and weighs 399 grams, including memory card and battery. This makes the camera 19 percent smaller and 150 grams lighter than the G1 X Mark II This has been at the expense of the zoom lens: the Mark III model has a 24-72 mm lens, where the predecessor has a 24-120 mm version.
With an aperture range of f/2.8-5.6, the Mark III also seems to lose out to the f/2.0-3.9 of the Mark II, but the larger sensor should compensate for this. The new camera in the PowerShot G1 Mark series has a 24.2-megapixel sensor with dual-pixel autofocus and supports an ISO range of 100 to 25,600. The image processor is the Digic 7.
Furthermore, an OLED viewfinder with 2.36 million pixels is present and there is a 3″ LCD that can be tilted 270 degrees. The camera can shoot 7 frames per second with continuous autofocus or 9 fps without. In addition, the device can record video on 60fps recording, compared to up to 30fps of its predecessor, but there is no support for 4k video.
The PowerShot G1 X Mark III will be available in November 2017 for a suggested retail price of 1199 euros.
