Listing GFXBench may betray Razer smartphone specs
A listing has appeared of what could be the smartphone from accessory maker Razer. Razer is likely to announce its first smartphone on November 1, but no details have come out so far.
The listing shows a RAM of 8GB and a storage of probably 64GB. The listing also shows a 5.7″ screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. This would be a conventional 16:9 screen. Many manufacturers are switching to longer screens this year.
The soc is a Snapdragon 835 from Qualcomm, with eight processor cores, the four fastest of which run at a maximum of 2.4GHz, with an Adreno 540 GPU. That soc can also be found in models from Sony, LG, OnePlus, Xiaomi and HTC. The upcoming Pixel 2 phones will also have an 835 on board. According to the listing, the maximum resolution of the camera is twelve megapixels, while the front camera has a resolution that corresponds to eight megapixels.
The GFXBench listings can show some basic information about telephones, but that information has not always proved reliable in the past: especially the screen size, which is difficult to read from telephone data, often turns out to be wrong. In addition, the listings can be counterfeited. Despite this, it has also often happened that information about unannounced smartphones came out via GFXBench listings.
Razer is expected to announce its smartphone on November 1. The manufacturer posted a teaser on Thursday that points to this. The maker of mainly game accessories has the expertise for making a smartphone. Earlier this year, it acquired Nextbit, the maker of the Robin smartphone led by a former designer of smartphone maker HTC.
