Mozilla Releases Light Browser Rocket With ‘Turbo Mode’
Mozilla has released Firefox Rocket in Indonesia, a lightweight mobile browser for Android with a built-in ad blocker. The browser is intended for phones with little storage and a slow internet connection.
The initial release of Firefox Rocket is clearly only for Indonesia. The app is only there in the Play Store, and furthermore, the browser only supports English and a language referred to by the interface as ‘Indonesia’. Even if you put the interface in another language, such as German or French, the app will remain in English.
By default, Rocket has Turbo Mode turned on, a feature that blocks ads on websites. Users can turn that off during setup. In addition, it is possible to block images on websites, in order to load pages faster.
Other functions that differ from the mobile Firefox are the functions to save entire pages as screenshots. This can be on the internal storage or on an SD card and these are indeed images without clickable links. This also applies to the browser’s cache, which users can clear with a few clicks and which can also be stored on the SD card.
Rocket is Mozilla’s third mobile browser, alongside the regular Firefox and Focus. Rocket is still in beta. It is unknown when the final version will be released. The browser can be installed via an installation file on APKMirror.
