Embracer Group is closing Pieces Interactive, the game studio that worked on the recently released Alone in the Dark. The developer had been part of the Swedish gaming giant since 2017 and was part of THQ Nordic.
Pieces Interactive closes self known. An image shows the years '2007-2024'. The studio writes that it has developed more than ten games for PC, console and mobile since 2007. Alone in the Dark is the last game in the list. The survival horror game was delayed more than once and finally released last March. Shortly after the release of the game Alone in the Dark, reports emerged that some of the staff at Pieces Interactive were being fired.
Embracer Group has closed several studios in a relatively short time, including Saints Row studio Volition and TimeSplitters developer Free Radical Design. Borderlands developer Gearbox, Shiver Entertainment and a large part of Saber Interactive were also sold earlier this year. Last year, Embracer warned that more layoffs, studio closures and game cancellations are on the way. In April, the gaming giant announced that it would split into three separate listed companies: Asmodee Group, Coffee Stain & Friends and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends.
