Riot Games will lay off 530 employees, approximately eleven percent of its workforce. According to the CEO, Riot Games no longer has a sharp focus, costs have become unsustainable and some investments have not sufficiently paid for themselves.

Jadeja signs up a blog post that Riot Games has experienced a growth spurt since 2019 and that the developer has doubled in size in a number of years. According to the CEO, costs have grown to an unsustainable level. This would no longer allow creative experiments and failures within the company. Management is said to have hired fewer or even no new employees in recent months as it works on ways to reduce costs.

Riot Games continues to focus on games such as League of Legends, Valorant, Teamfight Tactics and Wild Rift, and the studio will also continue to invest in e-sports events. The mobile game Legends of Runetterra is also listed. This game would not have done very well and that is why Riot Games is now focusing the development team on the PvE mode. That team will also be reduced in size. Riot Games will also take down Riot Forge, a division within the company that was responsible for collaborations with other game developers.
