Microsoft adds 34 previously removed Intel Xeon CPUs to Windows 11 requirements
Since the beginning of October, Microsoft’s Windows 11 has again supported most Intel Xeon CPUs that were previously removed from the system requirements for the operating system. This concerns 34 Xeon E-series CPUs.
The processors in question were no longer mentioned in the system requirements in August and were therefore no longer officially supported by Microsoft. Now notes Deskmodder that the CPUs are back in the list of supported processors are included. Of the 44 missing Intel Xeon E variants, 34 have been reinstated in Microsoft’s list. Ten Xeon E-23 variants are still not supported according to Microsoft documentation.
It was not clear why Microsoft initially removed the Intel Deskmodder suggests that it could be an error. Users have not noticed this in practice, but during a function update the operating system checks whether the system meets the system requirements and it is currently unclear whether the missing Xeon processors are officially supported or not.
