Motorola releases Edge 40 smartphone for 600 euros

Lenovo releases the Edge 40 smartphone for its Motorola brand. The phone will have a 144Hz screen, a MediaTek SoC and support for 68W fast charging. The phone will be immediately available in Europe and has a suggested retail price of 600 euros.

The Motorola Edge 40 is a lower positioned variant of the recently introduced Edge 40 Pro. The new variant has a smaller 6.55″ AMOLED screen with a 1080p resolution. The refresh rate is also slightly lower, at 144Hz. The Edge 40 also gets a Dimensity 8020 SoC from MediaTek. That chip has four Arm Cortex A78 cores, four more efficient A55 cores and a Mali-G77 GPU. The phone is equipped with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage as standard.

There are two cameras on the back of the device. The primary camera sensor has a resolution of 50 megapixels and the second 13-megapixel sensor has a wide-angle lens that is also suitable for taking macro photos. The selfie camera is incorporated in a punchhole in the screen and has a resolution of 32 megapixels.

The battery capacity of the Edge 40 is 4400mAh. This also supports wired fast charging at 68W. The phone can also be charged wirelessly, but at a maximum of 15W. The phone also has an IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. The Edge 40 comes with Android 13. The phone will be available immediately.
