‘Apple is working on a diary app that analyzes user’s daytime activities’
Apple is working on its own free diary app. The Wall Street Journal writes this. The app would track how a day is spent, but would also suggest topics to write about. The app will be introduced at Apple’s next developer conference.
The diary app, codenamed ‘Jurassic’, will track what a user’s typical day looks like, how much time a user spent indoors or elsewhere, and whether or not certain days were typical or normal. The app will also map how much social contact a user has had in a day. According to the newspaper, the app can distinguish between colleagues and close contacts. The diary app would then suggest topics for a user to write about. These suggestions will remain on the device for four weeks.
According to The Wall Street Journal All collected data will be processed on the device itself and no information will be shared with Apple or third parties. The newspaper’s editors were able to view internal company documents that show that Apple wants to focus more on the mental and physical well-being of its users. According to the American tech giant, keeping a diary is therefore beneficial to health.
The editors presented Apple’s plans to Paul Mayne, its CEO Day One: a popular diary app. Mayne said he would find it very unfortunate that Apple will ‘sherlock’ his app. That’s a term used by developers when Apple builds a new feature into its operating systems that eliminates the need to download or purchase apps and could result in a loss of revenue for the developers of those apps.
