Noctua mounting brackets to move the position of the CPU cooler cost 4 euros
Noctua releases mounting brackets to move current CPU coolers 7mm downwards. This brings the cooler more in line with the hottest part of AMD CPUs with an AM4 or AM5 socket, keeping the CPU 1 to 3 degrees cooler.
The brackets cost 3.90 euros via Noctua’s own website, while customers have to pay 4.90 euros via Amazon. the company reports. Noctua equips new models from Q4 with the new mounting brackets. The new positioning keeps the CPU up to 3 degrees Celsius cooler, with the biggest difference with AM5 sockets.
The mounting brackets have two holes, one set of holes is in the regular location and the other is 7mm apart. This brings the cooler more in line with the spot on the processor that gets the hottest. With recent Ryzen processors this is no longer in the middle, but due to the use of chiplets it is now more towards the bottom.
