Vivaldi will change the user agent of its browser to Edge when users go to Bing. This allows users to use Bing Chat without having to install Edge. For other websites, the browser continues to use Chrome as the user agent.

The developers to write that the changes are in version 6.1 of the browser. In that version, Vivaldi uses Chrome as a user agent by default. According to the company, it is no longer possible to set your own browser as a user agent, because in that case some websites are automatically blocked. Graphics drivers are also better optimized for Chrome, the developers say.

Vivaldi 6.1 makes an exception for when users go to Bing. In that case, the user agent changes to Microsoft Edge. Although both Edge and Chrome both run on Chromium, Bing Chat can only be used in Edge. That is part of Microsoft’s strategy to bring more people to its own browser, but Vivaldi is the first browser to have its own solution for this.

Vivaldi further says that the so-called Workspaces have been improved. These were already added in version 6.0. Workspaces are different containers in which users can group websites. In 6.1, this function has been improved by making it possible to drag Workspaces and organize them better.
