Nintendo is pulling the plug on eShop sales in Russia
Nintendo will stop selling digital games through the Nintendo eShop in Russia. The company previously pulled the plug on physical products in the country. Users in Russia will still be able to download purchased digital games and DLC ‘in the near future’.
The words ‘in the near future’ suggest that Nintendo may decide at a later date to pull the plug on downloading already purchased digital games and DLC via the eShop in Russia.
From now on, users from Russia can no longer make new purchases in the eShop or redeem digital codes. It is also no longer possible to create a new Nintendo account with Russia set as the country.
In March this year, Nintendo stopped shipping physical goods in Russia. In addition to Nintendo, other companies such as Microsoft, Google and Apple have also stopped selling in the country due to the armed conflict in which Russia and Ukraine are still embroiled.
